Car Rentals for Fun and even more Fun

ok, you're on vacation or even a business trip and want to try something new. How about getting a car that's completely out of the ordinary for you? You're transportaion at home is a mini van? How about getting a little red sports car! You know, those fast and furious imports and while you're at it, get a convertable.

Already run with a sports car then how about trying out how the big boys live and get a big, I mean really big full sized luxury car? We're talking land yachts like a Lincoln Continental or a Caddy.

Why not. It's good to try something new once in awhile even just to find out if you like it or not

Disaster Recovery for a Computer network

Many people are looking to develop or create a disaster recovery plan for their business computer network. Fact is, this is actually a misnomer as there are never any static consequences in a disaster. Take a fire in the building. This could arguably be considered a disaster. Here's the problem. . .

Did the fire reach the data center? If NO then the problem is peripheral damage.

Did the fire burn up the connections of the data center to the outside world? If no, then the problem is much more localized.

What was actually impacted in the building from a network perspective? If not much than it's not as important as a fire in the data center room itself.

See a pattern? Disaster Recovery is NOT recovering from a given disaster but from a set of problems that were CAUSED by a disaster. It's much better to plan for water in the data center that how to recover than a fire or floodwater. Both can put an extreme amount of water in the data center but one has filthy water and the other may be limited. . . or the specialized equipment to extinguish the fire already did the job. So think problems or consequences and not simply a general disaster

Enough picking on the cell phone loonys

OK, How about the other thing that just bugs the heck out of me when driving? It's TRUCKS! or more specifically, trucks with their "stay back 200 or 500 feet. Not responsible for broken windshields" signs. And just why AREN'T trucks responsible for damage caused from objects falling from their trucks?

How about I get a sign like:
"stay back 200 or 500 feet.
Not responsible for flat tires"

And proceed to drop nails out my window? Do you think the trucking companies would be upset replacing or repairing those 300 dollar tires? Of course they would! But then again, I'm getting to be pretty unhappy about replacing windshields because of their rocks gravel and trash loads.

I'm not suggesting all of us go to the local hardware store and buy a big box of extra large nails an begin to throw them into the path of trucks on the freeway. I don't want anyone hurt. Nails or anything sharp would also likely damage innocent people and cars also using the road. Still, you must admit, it's a good example of a stupid sign that should be removed from the trucks.

It only takes a little effort to clean off the fenders and such before entering public roads and the problem would greatly be minimized.

BTW: I personally like trucks and truckers.

(I just don't like the signs)
