Freedom to be Me
When someone you love decides to move away, the feeling of emptiness can sometimes overwhelm. Those of us who are parents seem to get the mixed feelings of everything all at once. These feelings are tied into the fact that our kids, although now adults, are still considered our kids. We don't really see them as adults but as big people that happen to be our kids. All grow'd UP but still our kids.
There's sometimes the feeling of relief when a grown child finally gets the heck out of the basement. Or the feeling of remorse in not having spent enough time with them when they were younger. Or a feeling of happiness when you realize the freedom of not being responsible for another person. Parents spend so much of our time caring for our kids that we sometimes forget what it was once likeā¦.. being free.
