Contact Lenses don't need to be bought from the doctor

Many eye doctors prescribe glasses and have a built in expectation that they're office will be supplying the actual glasses. Almost everything within the typical optometrist office is designed to encourage the patient / customer to buy from the office. From hands on glasses frames that encourage trying them all on to the pictures on the wall, everything works from the assumption that the patient will be buying not only the doctors servicese but also the eyeglasses or contact lenses.

Interesting fact is that most, if not all optometrist offices send their eyeglass orders out to an independant lab for fabrication. And as far as contact lenses are concerned, there are only a few companies that actually make the lenses. So with prescription in hand, check around for the best price.
