There's no perfect world
Many mangement circles today there is a profound lack of leadershp. This lack of leadership, especially at the middle mangement level translates into the worst possbile of all worlds. Upper management doesn't have the correct information necessary to make informed decisions. Middle management is just trying to keep their jobs. And the bottom of the pile rand and file people end up being short changed.
What's amazing is that upper mangement is then surprised that the people who actually do the work have such little confidence in their ability to run the company. Until upper mangement either creates a healthy environment that encourages middle management to be truthful, or there's a regime change, companies will continue to flounder and hurt their long term potential
