Tips and ideas from the field

What's with all the focus on Sports and Celebrities?

What the heck is the matter with the news media that we spend so much time on things like sports and celebrities? Folks, North Korea claims to have nuclear weapons, while the resident crazies in the Middle East are busy building the capability to refine nuclear material into weapons grade plutonium. But us here in the states we’re preoccupied on what everyone’s wearing or how our beloved sports teams are doing.

Or how about how the continued national debt throughout both democrat and republican regimes? Or that far from being the richest nation on earth, but are really the biggest debtor nation on earth. How about what this might mean and how will it affect me, you may say?
Take a look at the recent history of many South American countries. Look at the inflation rates and value of currency. The REALITY is that the only reason why we’re not in a depression with valueless money is that the Far Eastern nations like China are propping up our dollar.
Don’t think that we’re America and we’re to big to fail. That’s just what the Asian Tiger, Japan just a decade ago said. They’ve been living with some serious financial problems for well over 10 years. But don’t worry. Our newspapers and television media won’t let any of this reality interrupt your daily pabulum of sports and celebrity worship.

There are those who claim that because we can’t do anything about Korea or the Middle East that we should just enjoy our sports and celebrity shows. This is just like the end of the Roman Empire era when the government put on circuses in the coliseum to keep the sheeples mind off what was really happening. Christians were hated and fed to lions for entertainment while the stench of a rotting society continued unabated.

I personally don’t mind either sports or celebrities but how about a little thing called BALANCE! Enjoy it while you can because it won’t last.
